Your Stories: Billy Martin's Tavern Uncovers Old Photos
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) - When you walk into Billy Martin's Tavern, you can't help but be hit by the history.
"This is what we call the proposal booth," says 4th generation owner, Billy Martin, as he walks along a row of old booths inside the restaurant's main dining room. "It's the booth where John F. Kennedy actually proposed to Jackie. This is where he asked her to get married."
In 75 years, Martin's Tavern has served every U.S. president since Harry Truman, except for President Obama. For a restaurant that old and with that much history, Martin says there's still one thing that's missing.

On Monday evening June 8, VIPs, select media and local legends graced the Tavern once again for an intimate celebration with the entire Martin Family in honor of their 75th Anniversary. Master of Ceremony Williard Scott traded anecdotes with Chris Matthews and the Martin's as guests enjoyed an evening of revelry and laughter. Click here to see photos from the evening.

You all know and love our day bartender Aniko and she wants you to know that she loves you, too! To show it she is having her own special featuring $5 Bass Ales on Thursdays while she is behind the bar. She starts at 11am and ends somewhere around 5:30pm and once she's done for the day so is the special. Come, show how much you appreciate Aniko and stay so long that she has to keep the special going all night!!
